This 2.2 acres BORDERS the year round Putah Creek. This is the very Creek that John Fogerty would visit as a child and be inspired to write the song "GREEN RIVER" performed by Creedence Clearwater Revival http://www.oracleband.net/Lyrics/green-river.htm Six miles down stream from Winters is the sheltered cove in the 50 foot deep canyon carved out by the creek. This cove is the first improvement that was done 40 years ago when we first acquired the 2.2 acres. In the middle of the property is this half acre of level sheltered area shielded by a 16 foot slope on the north side of the creek. This produced a most pleasing condition of a south facing slope to shield the level cove from strong winds and collects the warmth of the low winter sun. Additionaly the creeks cooling abilities are VERY noticable since it cools very rapidily in the hot summer afternoons compared to the upper level acre that is where we built the current 2000 square foot house. The bank looking into this fishing hole sits on the North side of the creek. This means the low winter sun warms up the south facing banks that stair step towards the creek. This provides for an amazing environment that stays cooler in the hot summers and much warmer in the winter. Plus being shielded from strong winds the middle step is about a 1/2 acre of level prime soil that has several fruit trees grapes almonds and a pecan tree. A tall pole barn with six horse stalls is off to the right of this lower area. From the upper level of 1 1/2 acres you look across to the other side of the creek. As you face south looking out over this leveled 1/2 acre with the 12 foot prickley pear cactus framing your view (they love this south facing 16 foot slope)you see nothing but native growth. This is the view through the double pane sliding glass door of the 20000 square foot house. It currently has 5 bedrooms 2 baths. Old growth redwood 12 inch wide reach 12 feet tall on the exterior. This is on the high side of the vaulted open beam L shaped house. Each of these beams are made up of three 1"x12" and then are spaced 4 feet apart far closer and bigger than code ever required.
